Special Services - Home

Administers the district's Special Education Program K-12 including:

  • monitoring all Individual Educational Plans
  • attending local, county and state meetings
  • providing staff development for all special education staff
  • coordinating all placements and transportation for special education students
  • providing input to evaluation of special education personnel
  • supervising the delivery of psychological services
  • supervising the delivery of Health Services
  • supervising special programs and grants including:
    • Adult Education
    • Special Education Preschools (NRIS)
    • Alcohol, tobacco and drug use prevention
    • Prepares and monitors budgets for all above programs
    • Supervises Inter-District Attendance Agreements
    • Performs such other tasks as may be assigned by the Superintendent

SCOE Post-Secondary Transition Class

On March 31, 2014 Benicia Unified School District will be hosting an informational meeting regarding new Post-Secondary / Transition Class for the 2014 - 2015 school year which will be run by the Solano County Office of Education.  Both BUSD Special Services Director, Carolyn Patton, and SCOE Program Manager Tonya Roschen will be in attendance to answer your questions.  Please click here to view the flyer and see meeting information. 

CAC Annual Recgonition Awards Ceremony

Common Core and Smarter Balance Assessments

Benicia Unified School District has been nagivating the transition to the Common Core Standards which have been adopted by the State of California.  The 2014 - 2015 school year will mark Benicia Unified's first administration of the Smarter Balanced Assessment which will take the place of the STAR test.  Below you will find further information on both the Common Core Standards and the Smarter Balanced Assessment.
